Collection: MERZ B. SCHWANEN
The Swabian Alb was once one of Germany's most important textile regions. One of the companies located there was the Merz b. Schwanen knitwear factory, founded in 1911. Berlin resident Peter Plotnicki and his wife Gitta have revived its tradition. For several years now, shirts and sports trousers have once again been manufactured there – often on original circular knitting machines dating from 1920 to 1960. These machines run very slowly, which is essential for achieving the high density, characteristic structure, robust feel, and shape retention of the knitwear.
