Collection: Baracuta

At the end of the 19th century, Manchester's textile industry boomed – not least thanks to the new shipping canal that connected the city to the sea from 1894 onwards. But the harsh weather, with its frequent rain, also contributed to John and Isaac Miller quickly making a name for themselves in the industry – initially with rain jackets. In 1937, one of Baracuta's most famous models, the G9 bomber jacket, also known as the Harrington Jacket, was created in the Chorlton Street factory. The following year, the jacket received the detail that still gives it its distinctive charm today – the Fraser tartan lining.

Since its founding, Baracuta has captivated countless celebrities with its charm. The English national football team of the 1974 World Cup wore the jackets, and icons like Elvis Presley, Steve McQueen, Frank Sinatra, David Beckham, Daniel Craig, and Robert Downey Jr. count the brand among their fans. The jackets were exported to the US market in 1950, and by 1954, Elvis Presley had already worn the G9 in the film *King Creole*, thus definitively launching the model's triumphant success. The band The Clash also wowed fans with the jackets at their 1981 Times Square concert. These stylish companions have always been highly sought after in many subcultures. Baracuta is not only popular with fans of ska, punk, and Britpop, but also with golf enthusiasts.
